At Strachan Eyecare Plus, in Balwyn East and Blackburn North, we offer up-to-date primary eye and vision care for the whole family, providing comprehensive, professional eye examinations and quality optical appliances.
We are dedicated to providing excellence in all our levels of service, and as such all our personnel are committed to regular on-going continuing education in our varying areas of expertise. Our accreditation by the Victorian College of Optometry is testament to this dedication.
History
Greg and Sue Strachan have been in practice since April 1982, and have established extensive referral networks with local Ophthalmologists (Specialist Eye Surgeons), GPs, Maternal and Child Health Centre Nurses, Teachers, Psychologists, Pediatricians, Occupational Therapists, Audiologists, Speech Pathologists and other health care professionals.
This continues the family tradition of Optometry - Greg’s father, John Strachan, ran a very successful specialist contact lens practice in Collins Street Melbourne for many years which has now merged with our Balwyn Practice.

Strachan Eyecare Plus is an accredited associate of " Laser Sight", situated in East Melbourne, and thus our Optometrists are qualified to provide advice, appropriate referral, and pre- and post-procedural care for Laser Refractive Surgery. We believe that "integrated care" between us, your regular primary eye care providers, and specialist Ophthalmic surgeons, enables the best possible quality of eye care. Please feel free to ask us if you have any queries regarding laser refractive surgery, or any other type of eye treatment.
In addition, we offer domiciliary visits, and are pleased to service Veterans' Affairs patients. Our Optometrists have been conducting free Vision Screenings to local kindergartens for many years.
Strachan Eyecare Plus is pleased to support “ Optometry Giving Sight” or OGS, which is an international organization established in Australia to eliminate global blindness due to uncorrected refractive error. Two dollars from every pair of complete new glasses ordered helps to finance projects such as Optometry trips to countries like East Timor to supply glasses directly to those in need, as well as helping to finance programs to train local people in underdeveloped countries in Ophthalmic care.
