Local optometrist Eyecare Plus Nambucca Heads specialise in comprehensive eye examinations, prescription sunglasses, spectacle frames, contact lenses and eye health care for the whole family.
Our optometrists believe that a good eye exam is about making sure your eyes are healthy, your sight is clear and your vision comfortable.
This means our Nambucca Heads practice offers a comprehensive set of eyecare services and the latest technology in detecting eye diseases.
Joanne graduated in 1989 with Honours from UNSW, and has been with us for the past 17 years.
Joanne and her family have become very settled in the valley and she is looking forward to continuing optometry practice with Eyecare Plus for quite a few years more.
Joanne has interests in all aspects of optometry especially pathology such as age–related maculopathy, glaucoma, cataracts and diabetes.
Kylie studied Optometry at the University of New South Wales graduating, with Honours, in 1996. She then returned to her home city of Dubbo.
From 1997 to 1999 Kylie practiced in Perth and returned to Dubbo for a further four years before working as a locum across country NSW. During this time Kylie participated in an aid trip to Tanzania for a month, providing free eye care and spectacles to remote villagers west of Dodoma.
In 2004 she moved to the UK, working as Practice Support Manager for Allders Opticians 15 practices across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire, before sitting the qualifying examinations and working in an Allders practice in Luton. On her return in 2007, Kylie was again working a locum until deciding to settle in the Nambucca Valley in early 2008. Her professional interests include eye disease, children’s vision and contact lenses.
Laurence Graduated in New Zealand in 1976 and gained a therapeutic qualification in 2009 which enables him to prescribe medications for eye disease.
Laurence has worked in both private practice and in the public health system in New Zealand. He has been a long time clinical tutor of final year optometry students, and has had an active clinical research career especially in the area of complex contact lenses for dysfunctional corneas.
In 2001 Laurence co-authored an interactive digital textbook, "The Medmont Atlas of Visual Fields". In 2010 he was the first Optometrist to be invited as a guest speaker at a national Ophthalmology meeting in Auckland.
Laurence left his younger business partners in 2010 to experience the Australian lifestyle and spend time nearer his extended Australian family.
