How much does an eye test cost?

Medicare benefits are Bulk Billed for most consultations. Some additional fees apply for services that are not yet covered by Medicare. Our staff will be pleased to explain these fees.

Does Eyecare Plus Ashburton provide eye tests for children?

1 in 5 Australian children have vision problems. We provide specialised eye tests to make sure that any vision problems are detected and any learning difficulties related to vision are corrected.

How long does an eye test take?

At Optical World we are committed to providing excellent customer service. Our appointments are approximately 30 minutes in length, which include a full vision assessment and complimentary eye health checks. During our routine eye examinations, we screen your eye health and clarity of vision as well as check for any early signs of eye diseases such as Glaucoma, Cataracts, Macular Degeneration or Diabetic Retinopathy.

How much are your frames?

We have an extensive range of frames at Optical World, boasting one of the largest collections in Melbourne. We have frames starting from as low as $49 and many package deals available, including our ‘2 For 1’ Offer which includes frames from a selected range and stock single vision lenses.

What are the signs of vision problems?

The following is a partial list of symptoms in children and adults which indicate the need for a complete vision analysis:

  • difficulty reading small print
  • difficulty adjusting focus between near and far objects.
If you or one of your family members have any of the above symptoms you can follow up with an eye exam from one of our expert optometrists. Please make an appointment with us at either of our locations.

Why Do I need to have regular eye Check-Ups?

Your eyes can reveal many things about your general health. An eye exam can detect early signs of glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration. The exam may also reveal problems caused by diabetes and high blood pressure, in addition to common vision problems such as; short sight, long sight, astigmatism and reading difficulties.

These problems may go undetected in the early stages, but without early treatment, they can result in severe eye damage and irreversible loss of vision. Attending regular eye tests at Optical World is one of the best things you can do for your eyesight and for your general health.

At Optical World Ashburton, our fully qualified optometrists provide comprehensive eye examinations to help reduce those risks and to correct your vision. Optical World has the latest high-tech instruments, including computerised visual field analysers to help detect any nerve damage and retinal cameras for better recording and monitoring of eye conditions. Eye Tests at Optical World are still BULK BILLED, (so there is no cost to you).
