Eyecare Plus Optometrists Belmont

Born and raised in Gunnedah, Amanda graduated with a Master of Clinical Optometry with Excellence from the University of New South Wales in 2020. She was awarded the university award ‘Excellence in Patient Management’ in 2021 and has been practising in the Newcastle region ever since.

Amanda and her husband James took over the practice in July 2023. She has a keen interest in dry eye disease management, children’s vision and contact lenses. Amanda is therapeutically endorsed, allowing her to prescribe medications for anterior eye diseases, infections and injuries. She works together with ophthalmologists to co-manage glaucoma and other diseases.

Outside of work, Amanda can be found spending time with family and friends, camping, surfing and taking her Jack Russell ‘Toby’ for lots of adventures.

Dr Tim Duffy, Amanda’s father graduated from UNSW with a Bachelor of Optometry in 1983 and began practising in Coonabarabran in 1984. In 1985, he founded his own independent clinic in Gunnedah and served the region for the past 40 years.

In 2015 Tim and his business partner acquired the independent practice in Narrabri and then Moree in 2022. Tim has made the choice to trade in a country living with the coastal lifestyle, closer to his children.

Tim maintains his enthusiasm for optometry by keeping up with the incredible technological advancements in the industry and continuing to provide quality eyecare to patients of the local community.

Tim was the first optometrist in the North West to complete his Ocular Therapeutics study and now works with local and metropolitan ophthalmologists to co-manage and treat a wide range of eye diseases and injuries. When not working, Tim spends his free time staying active- cycling, golf and surfing, travelling with his wife Katrina and trying to keep up with their four children and grandchildren!

Bethany was born and raised in Whanganui, New Zealand, and completed her tertiary studies across the country. She began with a Bachelor of Science in Anatomy and Physiology in Dunedin in 2018, before moving to Auckland to complete her Bachelor of Optometry with Honours in 2021. This strong foundation has given her an in depth understanding of the eye, its connection to the brain, and the body as a whole.

Bethany has a particular interest in dry eye disease, specialty contact lenses, and the prevention and management of ocular disease. She is passionate about providing thorough, personalised eye care and takes pride in helping patients achieve comfortable vision and long-term eye health. Bethany was awarded the Novatears Dry Eye Prize at her graduation; a nod to her commitment to excellence in dry eye consultations.

Aside from all-things-optometry, Bethany enjoys fitness and you’ll find her training for half marathons, marathons, hyrox events and more! Her more relaxing hobbies include sewing, and spending time with friends (often at the beach).

Erica has over 27 years experience in the Optical industry as a qualified Optical Dispenser in Australia and overseas.

Her extensive knowledge and insight means you’ll receive personalised advice about frames and lenses, as she strives for quality client experience and service. Erica has recently taken on the new role of Practice Manager.

Erica has resided in the Lake Macquarie area for the past 20+ years and has enjoyed  working at local independent practices in Newcastle.

When she is not working you will find her running, traveling and spending time with friends and family.

Elicia has been a dedicated Optical Dispenser since 2016, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the field. In 2021, Elicia achieved her qualification with ACOD, further solidifying her professional capabilities and commitment to staying current with industry standards.

Elicia is known for her keen eye for detail and her ability to tailor optical solutions to meet the individual needs of each patient, ensuring optimal vision correction and comfort. Her passion for optical dispensing is evident in her thorough approach to every case, whether assisting with frame styling, lens recommendations, or troubleshooting complex prescriptions.

Outside of her professional life, Elicia enjoys spending quality time with her Chiweenie, Raya, who brings boundless energy to her life. When she’s not caring for her furry companion, Elicia enjoys outdoor activities such as fishing, horse riding, and relaxing by the water, which provides a perfect balance to her busy career.

Tina has been an integral part of the Belmont team since 2015. With over 20 years of experience in the optical dispensing industry, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the practice. Throughout her career, Tina has developed a deep understanding of lens fitting, frame selection, and the latest optical technologies, allowing her to provide exceptional care and guidance to our patients. .

Outside of work, Tina is dedicated to maintaining a healthy lifestyle through regular gym sessions and walks, balancing her professional life with personal wellness. Tina’s passion for both her career and personal well-being makes her a valued member of our team, and she is always ready to offer expert advice and support to our patients.

Jade has been with our practice for several months and has quickly become an integral part of the team. She is responsible for conducting pre-testing, providing optical assistance, and attending to customers. In addition to her clinical and customer service duties, Jade contributes to our social media content. She is currently studying to become a teacher at university, balancing her studies with her work here at the practice.
