About Us:
Eyecare Plus Mulgrave is a locally owned independent optometry practice providing comprehensive eye care for individuals and families throughout Mulgrave and the surrounding community.
Led by experienced optometrists Glenn Vessey and Damien Watson, our team is committed to delivering personalised eye care with a focus on long-term eye health. We take the time to understand your vision needs, explain your options and provide tailored advice for every stage of life.
Whether you’re visiting for a routine eye examination, updating your prescription, exploring contact lenses or managing an ongoing eye condition, we provide comprehensive eye care supported by modern diagnostic technology and a carefully selected range of prescription glasses, sunglasses and contact lenses.
Our comprehensive eye examinations typically take less than 45 minutes and assess much more than your vision. During your appointment, we examine your overall eye health and can detect the early signs of a range of eye conditions, often before symptoms develop. Our clinical services include the assessment, diagnosis and ongoing management of conditions such as:
- Dry eye treatment
- Macular degeneration
- Orthokeratology (Ortho-K)
- Glaucoma exam
- Children’s vision
- Myopia control
- Keratoconus exam
- Corneal Topography
We accept all major optical health funds. If you’re unsure what you’re covered for, our friendly team is happy to help you understand your available optical benefits.
As part of the Eyecare Plus network, we combine the personalised service of an independent practice with modern clinical technology to provide high-quality eye care and tailored vision solutions for every member of your family.
Children’s Myopia Management & Control Clinic Mulgrave
Myopia (shortsightedness) is a progressive eye condition where the eyeball grows too long, causing blurry distance vision. Driven by screen time and genetics, myopia is rising rapidly, with experts predicting it will affect 50% of the global population by 2050.
At our Mulgrave optometry practice, we offer advanced myopia management to slow this growth and protect your child’s long-term eye health. Leaving progression unchecked thins the retina, significantly increasing the lifetime risk of serious eye diseases like retinal detachment, glaucoma, and macular degeneration.
Advanced Myopia Control Treatments
We provide four primary, evidence-based myopia control treatments to slow eye elongation:
- Orthokeratology (Ortho-K): Overnight retainer lenses for clear daytime vision without glasses.
- Myopia Control Spectacles: Specialized lenses (like MiYOSMART or Stellest) that signal the eye to slow down growth.
- Soft Contact Lenses: Child-friendly daily disposables (like MiSight) that correct vision while controlling progression.
- Low-Dose Atropine Drops: Safe, nightly prescription eye drops.
Book a Children’s Eye Exam
Support treatment with two hours of daily outdoor time and the 20-20-20 screen rule. Schedule a comprehensive children’s eye examination at our Mulgrave clinic before starting school, and every two to three years after.
